Into Minnesota (day 29)

Wanting to break up a planned long driving day, we cut our stay short in Fort Ransom. Friday we set off for Minnesota. But North Dakota wasn’t done with us yet. The GPS directions, as well as the directions from the campground, took us down 17 miles of dirt road to a paved road. Now, it was a decent dirt road, but there were ruts from recent floods, and I kicked up a giant dust cloud behind me. (That was nothing like the cloud behind the FedEx Sprinter van that I left pass me - he was going around 50 down the road, but then again, it isn’t his van.) The first chance we got to regain pavement, we took it.

After that we had a pretty short drive to our campground, a KOA outside of Minneapolis. It’s nothing special, and certainly not scenic (or cheap) like the campgrounds we prefer, but they have electric, useful for running the AC on this 87 degree day. It also has an effective laundry, a nice pool, and is close to places to shop and eat. (We visited our first Super Target, which we like more than Super Wal-Mart.)

Only one day here, then back to some state parks next to lakes for some relaxing.
